Summary

As the Director of Primate Records Database for the Southwest National Primate Research Center (SNPRC), I direct the ongoing development and management of software associated with the care, management, and use of animals for scientific research at the SFBR. I also provide statistical analysis of animal management and research data. The Primate Records Database component serves all other components of the SNPRC.  Vital statistics and clinical records of primates maintained by the SNPRC are captured, maintained, and disseminated as needed. Animal records include both medical care records and records of experimental procedures having long-term effects on animals, including surgeries, viral exposures, and immunizations. This component designs and implements data quality assurance practices and testing methods. We will serve as trainers and technical consultants for primate database users. Finally, I also represent the SNPRC on a committee of representatives for all of the NPRCs, the mission of which is to develop strategies and software to facilitate data sharing among the NPRCs.
