In a
time of major economic change,
shifting national priorities, and far-reaching academic reorganization,
the research milieu is precarious. It is important that the public, our
elected officials, and the various funding agencies be aware of the
significance of the research topics considered by anthropological
geneticists. In its public service and educational role, the AAAG
expects to provide such a voice on behalf of its membership.
Anthropological geneticists are located in medical schools and anthropology departments, as well as outside of academia. They represent a broad range of research specialties. Membership in the AAAG and other professional organizations enables individual members to network with colleagues (current AAAG members are listed here). The following list (incomplete as it is) of professional organizations, labs, databases and other web links provides a picture of the research interests held by members of AAAG, as well as a number of academic institutions that provide training opportunities, journals, software, etc. = recently added or
