Letter of Invitation

Dear Colleagues:

On behalf of the International Committee, it is my pleasure to invite you to participate in the 2nd International Congress on the Future of Animal Research, to be held in Rio de Janeiro during August 16-19, 2005.

The objectives of this meeting are to bring together laboratory animal scientists and veterinarians from around the world to discuss current trends in research with animals, and alternatives, to develop a collective vision of future opportunities, to foster the international harmonization of standards in the care and use of animals, and to establish international collaborative opportunities for established scientists as well as students and postdoctoral fellows.

The Congress will be held in conjunction with the 5th South American Veterinary Conference, which is expected to attract more than 4,000 participants.

Participation of scientists and veterinarians, as well as students and postdoctoral fellows, from around the world will be critical to the success of this Congress.  If you would like to receive a personal invitation by e-mail or by letter, please advise me at jlv@sfbr.org.  If you would like to make a contributed oral or poster presentation, let me know the topic so I can include it in the invitation.

Sincerely,
John L. VandeBerg, Ph.D.
Chairman, Organizing Committee and
Chairman, Executive Committee
