Genetic Analysis and Pedigree Management

Software developed in the Population Genetics Laboratory of the Department of Genetics, SFBR, may be downloaded from this site directly. These applications have been created as a by-product of our own studies, and we are happy to share our efforts with scientists and other interested parties. They are freely available, but are copyrighted and carry specific terms of license. Our production resources are limited, however, and for this reason we charge modest fees to recover costs for printed material, magnetic media, and postal distribution when electronic distribution is impractical. Contact Dr. Tom Dyer for further information.

PEDSYS is a full-scale database system developed as a specialized tool for management of genetic, pedigree and demographic data. Version 2.0 is available presently for Solaris, Red Hat Linux, and Macintosh OS X. PLEASE NOTE that the Macintosh OS 9, and Windows 95/98/NT versions may be downloaded, but are no longer maintained or supported.

SOLAR is a suite of variance component-based algorithms for linkage and quantitative genetic analysis: the Sequential Oligogenic Linkage Analysis Routines. SOLAR is available for Linux/Intel, Solaris/SPARC, Solaris/x86, Digital Unix/Alpha, and Silicon Graphics Irix.

Pedigree/Draw provides for the creation, editing and drawing of pedigrees of human or nonhuman families. The application is compatible with Macintosh OS 8.5 through 9.2.2, and runs in "Classic 9" mode under Mac OS X.
